Backpacking Food - What Should You Bring?
Many people have different backpacking food ideas, but whatever you choose, it always tastes better out in the woods. it is important to remember that whatever you bring needs to stay edible while on your trip. It is not a good idea, for an example, to bring an apple. It will get bruised in your bag and then you are left to carry around the core once you are done eating.
Backpacking food can be the bag meals that you pick up from REI. They are lightweight, easy to make, and your clean up time with them is almost zero. I always thought people had no sense of adventure when they brought these. Then one time I tried the turkey and mashed potatoes and realized why they did bring them. It was really good! Now I always take along a bag meal for at least one night of the trip. We have tried the teriyaki chicken with rice, lasagna, and even the cheesecake. All were good enough to recommend. All you need to do is boil some water, pour it into the bag, and let it sit for a few minutes. Once the time is up you are ready to grub!
